Regarding Thor/Loki and brotherhood

Because you see, you can have a blood brother/sister and you can find out when you’re both old and then you realise there’s not a possible way that you can create a connection. And you can have an adopted sibling, and if you grew up together, and you are used to look after each other and have shared many experiences and have ‘fought and laughed’ together as Loki and Thor did… then you are brothers.

The blood doesn’t matter, genetics are just a detail. What matters is the bond they’ve created throughout the years.
So, even if Loki claims that Thor is not his brother; Thor knows this. They’ve done everything that brothers do, why should a stupid thing like having a different biological father make any difference?

Yes, THIS. I don’t read Thor/Loki, but it’s not because I object to it as an incest pairing, because, well, GODS. While nowhere near as much as the Greek gods, the Norse gods had their fair of incestuous relationships. And while I’m not a real fan of incest-pairings, a society in which it’s not a hard and fast taboo definitely changes the dynamic. My problem is having to wade through all the fic that posits their relationship as a-okay and not incestuous since they’re not “real” brothers. Family is family is family, and blood has FUCK-ALL to do with it.
